Wasting No More Time As a Real Estate Agent, you know time management is key. You have a busy schedule and there are not enough hours in the day between meeting clients and meeting family obligations. Time management is not about finding more time; it’s about setting a reasonable amount of time to spend on these tasks and using that time wisely. One of the best ways to stay organized and focused is to prepare a to-do list the day before. List the most important tasks to be done first and the least important tasks at the bottom. Spend the first two hours of the day focusing on the most important tasks. (It is more effective if you work on tasks in 15-minute intervals.) Don’t get distracted by phone calls or e-mails. Finish what you need to do, then respond to any voicemails or e-mails. Procrastination can prevent you from completing your tasks. You might not like doing the task, you might be unsure if you can complete it or you may feel overwhelmed. To overcome procrastination, break the task down into smaller tasks. If you do not like the task, remind yourself of the consequences if it is not completed. Once you have completed the task, give yourself a reward for your accomplishment. Time management can also help you achieve your goals. What are your goals in life? Where do you want to be in your career three to five years from now? To create these goals, start creating a “big picture” of what you want to do with your life and decide which large-scale goals you want to achieve. Then break down these goals into smaller targets that you must hit in order to achieve your lifetime goals. The process may be time-consuming and require a lot of effort now, but in the end, it will save you plenty of time and effort later. Make sure the goals you set are realistic. Properly set goals will help you accomplish your goals and boost your self-confidence. Time management isn’t something that can be perfected overnight. It takes lots of practice. If you work on it every day, you will see that you will get more done in less time and you will be able to meet your goals.
