Charles Rutenberg Realty Introduces NY Heroes Program

 

Annmarie Portaro, Associate Broker, and Jennifer Lien, Licensed Real Estate Agent, of Charles Rutenberg Realty — with offices in Huntington, Plainview, Bayside and Valley Stream — have introduced a program that recognizes the true heroes of Long Island.

The NY Heroes Program offers rebates and discounts to Long Island’s local heroes: military personnel, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, rescue personnel, veterans, law enforcement personnel, teachers, doctors and nurses. They can enroll in the program online and free of charge. Once they are enrolled, they will receive a card that will allow them to receive discounts on purchases and services from participating companies.

Companies which participate in the NY Heroes Program pay a fee to advertise with the program. Some of the businesses which currently participate include restaurants, chiropractors, law firms, dance studios, insurance companies, home inspectors, credit restoration agencies, contractors, moving companies and Real Estate and mortgage companies. Anyone who is enrolled in the program and either buys or sells a home will receive 15% back from the Real Estate Agent’s commission at the time of the closing. If the buyer or seller is outside the Long Island area, a participating Realtor will honor the 15% rebate at closing.

Ms. Portaro comes from a family of heroes: her brother is a police officer with the New York Police Department, her uncle is a Nassau County police officer and her father is a retired corrections officer. In addition, her cousin was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division and his son is currently attending West Point.

Like Ms. Portaro, Ms. Lien has family members who are heroes. Her father is a retired police detective and both her grandfathers were veterans in the armed forces. She also has many friends who are heroes.

“I couldn’t think of anything better than developing a company that is dedicated to our heroes and shows gratitude for their dedication and service,” Ms. Portaro said. “All our close friends and family are teachers, firefighters, police officers or military personnel. I have two children, ages 9 and 10. I would be proud if either one of my children chose any of these courageous careers.”
